Description
We offer a free service, funded by Macmillan, designed to support individuals navigating the combined challenges of dementia (or memory loss) and cancer. We support clients who currently have a cancer diagnosis, have a history of cancer, or are undergoing investigation for suspected cancer—as well as clients whose primary family carer is affected by a current or past cancer diagnosis. While our Dementia-Friendly Cancer Advocates are non-clinical and not medically trained, they offer personalised, non-medical support at home, during hospital appointments, or within community hubs. Advocates act as a bridge between healthcare teams and families by breaking down complex medical jargon, advocating for the client’s unique needs during fast-paced appointments, reducing stress, and providing dedicated guidance for family carers.
